Nishitetsu Hotel Croom Hakata: Room Size, Bus Terminal and Bath

The bus terminal is roughly a minute away and the bath runs late, but many rooms are 14.6 m². A longer stay with two cases calls for a close look at the 20.7 m² Twin.

The broad brick facade stands across the road from Hakata Bus Terminal.

Nishitetsu Hotel Croom Hakata works best as a short transfer base. JR Hakata’s Hakata Exit is about four minutes away on foot, while the bus terminal is roughly one minute across the road. Many single and double rooms measure 14.6 m². The on-site natural hot-spring bath runs until 01:00, giving a late arrival a possible end-of-day use that a normal early-closing bath would not. The decision is whether those two location and bath benefits compensate for the compact room on your actual number of nights.

For one or two nights with a morning bus or JR train, the answer can be yes, particularly for someone travelling alone or with light luggage. Two people carrying large cases for several nights should price the 20.7 m² Comfort Twin before choosing a 14.6 m² category. Neither published area tells us the exact clear floor space around an open suitcase, so room photographs and the booked layout still matter.

Hakata returns may outweigh one quick transfer.

A one-night transfer benefits twice from a short final walk: on arrival and on departure. On a four-night Fukuoka city stay, a small room becomes a recurring condition and a terminal used once cannot make it disappear. Count the mornings that actually start at the bus terminal and the evenings when the bath will still be open after dinner.

The hotel’s useful facts are concentrated in a few places

The entrance is about four minutes from JR Hakata Station’s Hakata Exit; the subway approach is via West Exit 4. Hakata Bus Terminal is across the road, around a minute on foot from the hotel. This can help on routes to Yufuin, Beppu or other Kyushu stops, but only if the chosen service departs from that terminal. Check the operator and stop before assuming every bus connection gets the same benefit. See Fukuoka to Yufuin by bus or train.

The main room ladder has several 14.6 m² categories, including Single, Semi Double, Double and Comfort variants. The Comfort Twin and Universal Twin have 20.7 m². The difference is a little over six square metres; it is more useful to ask how many people, bags and indoor hours must fit than to call the smaller rooms either impossible or spacious. A guest carrying one case for a transit night faces a different constraint from a pair who unpack daily.

A one-minute terminal walk has a narrow but real use

The four-minute Hakata Station measure begins at the named exit, not at the airport arrival gate or train seat. Reaching the exit can involve escalators, lifts, crowds and a platform-to-concourse walk. In rain with luggage at 22:30, the final street leg deserves more weight than it does after a daylight arrival with a small bag. The city subway connects Fukuoka Airport and Hakata, but transfer and station-navigation time must be added to the train ride. See first-night Fukuoka hotel choices.

The bus-terminal relationship is more distinctive. For a 07:30 highway bus, a hotel across the road avoids a pre-departure walk back through JR Hakata Station. It also makes it easier to keep luggage with you until departure. The shortcut does not replace a seat reservation or a check of the departure bay. A JR route to Yufuin, by contrast, uses the four-minute station side of the hotel rather than the one-minute bus side. See Hakata to Yufuin luggage choices.

Hakata is a transport base, not automatically the best area for every evening. A trip centred on Tenjin restaurants and shopping may require repeated cross-city returns. If those journeys dominate, compare staying in Tenjin before paying a premium for a terminal you use only once. The right base follows the routes you repeat, not the smallest walking number on a hotel listing. See food-led Fukuoka hotel bases.

Hakata routes that change the hotel choice

A three-day Fukuoka plan can reveal whether Hakata is a transport hub or merely the arrival point. If an overnight bag or suitcase needs a different Yufuin route, decide that before choosing a compact room. See three days in Fukuoka.

The bus and rail routes to Yufuin have different luggage and departure implications; use the relevant transfer guide before fixing the hotel.

The 14.6 m² room has a cumulative cost

Depending on its category, a 14.6 m² room can sleep two, but sleeping capacity is not a luggage-clearance promise. The bed, desk, bathroom and circulation space all share that area. Some Comfort categories have a different shower and toilet arrangement, so check the exact name and photographs on the booked plan. The 20.7 m² Twin is the room to compare when two guests need separate beds or plan to open larger cases. See larger Hakata hotel rooms. See compact-room hotel costs.

For a solo traveller, the compact room can be used mainly for sleep, a suitcase and a quick morning departure. Two people returning with shopping every evening use the floor differently: bed access, unpacking and repacking may overlap. On a one-night stay, that inconvenience is brief. Across four or five nights, it repeats often enough to justify checking the Twin rate or another hotel with a larger baseline room. See longer Fukuoka stays.

No published floor plan guarantees that two 28-inch suitcases can remain fully open in every 14.6 m² room. If that is essential, inspect current photographs of the exact room category and compare the 20.7 m² Twin rather than extrapolating from room area alone. A storage rack, door swing and bathroom entry all affect the usable path through the room. See family-room and luggage needs.

A late bath is useful only before its closing time

Croom Hakata indoor bath beside tall windows and garden planting

The bath image shows a broad indoor pool beside windows and garden planting; room photos cannot establish how busy it will be at a particular hour.

The guest natural hot-spring bath has an indoor pool, an outdoor section and a sauna. Its published sessions are 15:00–25:00 and 06:00–09:30. That gives the hotel a later night window than many day-use facilities, but it still closes at 01:00. The value belongs on nights when you can finish dinner, return and enter with a comfortable margin. See hotel details. See hotel details. See hotel details. See hotel details. See hotel details. See hotel details.

A return around 22:00 can leave time for luggage, a shower or shopping bags before using the bath near 23:00. A 00:30 hotel arrival may leave little after check-in and changing; an arrival after 01:00 cannot use the first night session at all. Late hotel check-in and late bathing are separate facts. Put both on the actual arrival timeline before treating the bath as a reason to pay more.

The 06:00–09:30 morning session has a different use. It can fit a relaxed breakfast and a departure later in the morning. A 06:30 checkout for a distant day trip leaves little time. A public bath should enter the hotel comparison as an activity you can actually schedule, not as a facility count.

Breakfast, laundry and stored bags solve different problems

Breakfast can be a Japanese and Western buffet at Hakata Tobiuo or a Komeda Coffee morning set. Compare opening times and the rate attached to the chosen plan; an early bus may make either option impractical. The choice is useful on an unhurried morning, but breakfast inclusion should not be paid for on a departure that starts before the meal can be used. See Fukuoka breakfast options.

Coin laundry helps a longer stay with fewer clothes. The hotel also accepts temporary luggage storage before check-in and after checkout, and its lobby has self-service cloakroom and work or rest areas. Those facilities move chores and bags out of the room for part of the day. They do not change the 14.6 m² bedroom into the 20.7 m² Twin, and luggage-storage rules for unusual items should be confirmed with the hotel. See packing fewer clothes with laundry.

For a short transfer, these facilities can soften the small-room compromise. Across a week, they still leave two guests to share the same compact floor every evening. Work backward from how many waking hours and how much open luggage the room needs to hold.

Two realistic days give opposite answers

Consider a guest who returns to Hakata at 20:30, eats nearby, reaches the hotel again around 22:30, uses the bath at 23:00, packs at 23:45 and crosses to the bus terminal around 07:30. The short bus walk and late bath are both used, while the small bedroom is mainly a place to sleep. This is a strong case for Croom Hakata, provided the selected room and price are acceptable.

Now consider two travellers with a large case each, arriving back at 17:00, working at a desk and spreading purchases across the floor for five nights. The station and bus access are pleasant but do not return the floor area needed each evening. In this pattern, the 20.7 m² Twin or another hotel may have more value than a one-minute terminal crossing.

The important measure is therefore repeated room use. If the guests are out most of each day and leave by bus, the smaller category may be rational. If the room functions as a living and packing space, price that use explicitly.

Hakata transport days and Fukuoka city days pull in different directions

For Yufuin, choose highway bus or JR before selecting the hotel. The bus-terminal advantage belongs to a bus booking; a JR service such as Yufuin no Mori makes the Hakata Station walk relevant instead. Luggage forwarding can change the room decision as well, but check where the bag will arrive and whether the next accommodation can receive it. A small overnight bag is not the same burden as two full-size cases. See Yufuin no Mori reservations.

On a three-day city visit, one long outing followed by a single Hakata return is easy to manage. Repeatedly shopping in Tenjin, returning to Hakata to unload, then heading out to Tenjin again for dinner creates extra travel. A Tenjin hotel may reduce those movements. Count daily returns rather than assuming a Hakata address is the neutral choice for every Fukuoka itinerary. See midday shopping-bag returns.

Autumn travel can strengthen an early-out, late-back pattern if the itinerary includes Kyushu foliage excursions. The five- or seven-day route and Lake Kinrin timing can help decide whether those days really depart early from Hakata. A city stay built around Tenjin evenings or a greater need for room space can still favour a different base. See Kyushu autumn timing.

The room-space cost is the main thing you give up

The compact categories reduce indoor margin. Baths, laundry and a lobby let guests perform some tasks outside the room, but two people still sleep and handle luggage within 14.6 m². That is a concrete trade-off, especially after shopping or on a wet day when clothing and bags need somewhere to dry or sit. See Hakata rooms with another bath trade-off. See a 1-minute Hakata Station hotel.

In return, the hotel is roughly four minutes from Hakata Exit, about a minute across from the bus terminal and has a bath open until 01:00. A traveller arriving at 15:00 and spending quiet evenings in the room may use little of that package. Another guest who arrives late, leaves early and treats the bedroom as a short rest stop may use every part of it.

The location premium is justified by repeated transfers and feasible bath visits. Without those, compare larger rooms or a different neighbourhood rather than accepting the small category automatically.

Room category comes before booking channel

First hold the same dates and guest count. Then compare a named 14.6 m² room with the 20.7 m² Twin only as a deliberate upgrade, not as interchangeable rates. Keep breakfast, taxes, payment timing and the cancellation deadline aligned across sellers. A lower total can disappear when the plan has stricter terms or a different room layout. See three other Hakata station hotels.

Hakata Croom room and date check See Compare stays beside Hakata Bus Terminal.

The Twin is the comparison to open first when two travellers bring larger cases; a compact room can work better for a solo transfer.

A room-only rate can be useful for the morning bus traveller who will leave before breakfast.

Seven site scores for a Hakata transfer stay

Dimension

Site score

Basis for this hotel

Location

Hakata Bus Terminal is about a minute away, with JR Hakata around four minutes from the suitable exit.

Room

Many categories are 14.6 m²; the 20.7 m² Twin is the meaningful step for two full cases.

Cleanliness

Current aggregated guest cleanliness categories range around 8.7–9.2/10.

Service

The current aggregated guest service category is around 9.1/10.

Facilities

The natural bath runs to 01:00 and reopens at 06:00; coin laundry handles longer trips.

Food

The buffet and Komeda morning set give two on-site styles; departure time determines usefulness.

Value

Bus access and late bath have clear value for a transfer stay, while a compact room costs space.

Overall

Strong for one or two rail-and-bus nights; the larger Twin changes the longer-stay calculation.

These site scores are out of ten for a short stay built around Hakata rail and bus departures; the cleanliness and service dimensions use anonymous guest category aggregates. Croom Hakata does not need to win on standard-room area to be useful. It keeps the bus terminal and Hakata Station close, while the bath can remain available after a normal dinner. Those advantages lose force if the room is occupied for long hours, large cases must stay open, or the guest returns after the bath closes. Choose the exact room and total rate only after that itinerary test. See Croom Hakata Gion’s different room setup.

Practical questions before booking

How does the airport arrival end at the hotel?

Ride the Fukuoka City Subway to Hakata, then find the Hakata Exit or West Exit 4 approach used by the hotel. The four-minute walk begins at the exit. Allow additional time for the airport platform, station concourse, lifts and any road crossing, especially with large bags. Do not treat a short train ride as the complete airport-to-room time.

Is a very late check-in possible?

The hotel lists check-in from 15:00 to 29:00 and checkout at 11:00, subject to the selected plan. A flight arriving after midnight may still fit hotel check-in; the bath closes at 25:00. Contact the hotel if the reservation needs a late-arrival note, and avoid treating the longer reception window as an extension of bathing hours.

Can two large cases stay open in the smaller room?

The 14.6 m² area alone cannot answer that for every layout. Bed placement, desk depth, door swing and luggage dimensions matter. Compare current photos of the exact booked room, then price the 20.7 m² Twin if both cases must be open at once.

When can hotel guests use the bath?

The natural hot-spring bath runs 15:00–25:00 and 06:00–09:30. Arriving at the hotel shortly before 01:00 gives little margin for changing and entry; arriving after that time removes the first-night bath opportunity.

What happens to luggage before check-in?

The hotel offers temporary storage before check-in and after checkout. Confirm unusual bag sizes, valuables and any overnight request directly before relying on storage; the published service is a daytime convenience, not an unlimited left-luggage guarantee.
