These hotels solve different Shinjuku journeys. Hotel Gracery places a guest in Kabukicho, near the meals and entertainment that may finish late. JR Kyushu Hotel Blossom Shinjuku sits by the South Exit and the Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal, often called Busta, where many long-distance buses begin. With two large suitcases over several nights, compare Gracery's 24 m² Standard Twin against Blossom's 25 m² Superior Twin. Both sell smaller doubles; using one of those to prove a one-square-metre twin-room advantage would distort the decision.
The first question is which side of the station will be used repeatedly. Two nights ending in Kabukicho give Gracery's final walk real value. Multiple early Busta departures, South Exit trains and late laundry needs point toward Blossom. If a direct coach to Haneda or Narita is non-negotiable, the airport stop at Tokyu Kabukicho Tower changes the comparison again: Gracery is a short walk from that stop, while Blossom's Busta proximity serves a different bus network. Tokyo Station versus Shinjuku as a base should be settled before choosing either individual hotel.

Kabukicho and South Exit are different last walks
Gracery's hotel material places it about five minutes on foot from JR Shinjuku East Exit and about three minutes from Seibu-Shinjuku Station. Blossom lists about three minutes from the JR South Exit and Busta Shinjuku, with Toei Oedo and Shinjuku Line access nearby. These are outdoor exit-to-hotel estimates. They omit the movement from platform to exit inside one of Japan's busiest stations. An arrival at the wrong side can erase a published two-minute walk difference before the traveller even reaches street level.
The street approach also changes with the hour. Returning to Gracery after a Kabukicho dinner shortens the final walk from that district. Leaving Blossom for a highway bus reduces the transfer from hotel door to Busta, which matters before a 07:00 or 07:30 departure. Neither benefit should be promoted by itself into a five-night hotel decision if it occurs once. Mark each evening and morning on the itinerary; the repeated movement is the one that deserves the stronger weight. A closer look at Gracery's east-side location helps when most nights are in that area.
The tall Toho cinema building in the photograph is easy to recognise above the street, but its visible front is not itself a step-by-step route to the hotel reception. Gracery's entrance and lift take guests up to the eighth-floor lobby. Save the entrance route rather than walking toward the Godzilla figure and assuming every door leads to check-in. On a late return, the value comes from being near the district where the evening ended; the landmark is only a navigation cue.
The twin-room comparison is closer than a hotel search page suggests
Gracery's Standard Twin is listed at 24 m² with two 120 cm beds. Blossom's Superior Twin is 25 m², with two 120 × 200 cm beds, a sofa and a large table. A single square metre does not establish which room works better for two open cases. Furniture placement, how far the bathroom door swings and the space beside each bed matter more. Compare the actual room photographs and floor plans; a generic image from another category cannot answer the suitcase question.
Both properties also offer 18 m² Standard Double rooms with a 140 cm bed. Those can be rational for a short stay with one compact bag and a couple happy to share a bed, but they are not substitutes for the two twins in a two-case comparison. Gracery's Comfort Twin reaches 32 m² and is configured as a step-free universal room; Blossom lists a 30 m² Deluxe Twin and larger twin categories. An upgrade may change the winner, but it must be priced on the travel dates. The Blossom room guide gives the full category decision.

The Blossom image here shows one bed beside a desk and bright window, so it should not be mistaken for the 25 m² Superior Twin discussed above. It illustrates how a compact single-bed arrangement differs from a twin room, not the precise circulation of a room with two beds. Likewise, the Gracery double-room photograph below shows one bed, sofa and small table. It cannot prove the layout of Gracery's 24 m² twin. The named room in the booking confirmation decides the comparison.

For two adults staying three to five nights, a larger room has repeated value if they open cases every day, need separate beds and spend some time inside the hotel. For a one-night stay before a bus, a room may be used mostly for sleep, and the morning walk can dominate. For a five-night stay with a large price gap, multiply the nightly difference before paying for a small location advantage. Luggage forwarding might reduce the room-space requirement if this is a short Tokyo stop between longer bases.
Busta is useful only for buses that actually leave there
Blossom explicitly places Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal about three minutes away. That is helpful for a morning highway bus toward the Fuji Five Lakes or other destinations served from Busta. The exact bay, check-in requirement and walking route still need to be taken from the bus ticket. A 07:00 bus leaves little benefit in reaching a terminal building at 06:59. The hotel saves the street approach, not the boarding margin.
One Kawaguchiko highway-bus excursion may create a single early departure and evening return. If the other four nights finish in Kabukicho, that bus alone need not force a South Exit hotel. Two or three Busta starts, a south-side train connection and no nightlife interest form a much stronger Blossom case. Hakone transport choices are another reminder to identify the actual terminal: not every outing labelled “from Shinjuku” uses the same departure point.
Gracery is not a Busta hotel simply because both addresses are in Shinjuku. Crossing the station and locating the bus terminal at dawn can be more consequential than a tiny difference on a hotel listing. Conversely, Busta proximity should not be translated into direct access to every airport coach. The coach serving Tokyu Kabukicho Tower is a separate stop and service. Before buying either hotel for a transport promise, put the booked operator and boarding point on a map.

Blossom's lit glass facade is a useful building-level visual, but the photograph cannot establish a platform-to-reception journey time. The South Exit and Busta directions should still be saved for the first arrival, particularly with cases after dark.
The airport-coach exception changes the shortlist
Hotel Gracery's current access page describes direct airport coaches between Tokyu Kabukicho Tower and Haneda or Narita, with the tower stop about two minutes on foot from Gracery. HOTEL GROOVE SHINJUKU occupies the tower itself, making it a different candidate when luggage handling on the airport leg is paramount. Coach frequencies and flight-specific timing can change; the mere existence of the route does not prove that a departure serves an early or late flight. Check the operator's timetable for both arrival and departure days before paying for a hotel around it.
Blossom's South Exit position can still suit an airport journey made by rail or a different bus, but it should not be credited with the Kabukicho Tower coach at its own door. A traveller with two large cases and a convenient tower coach may find Gracery more useful than the usual twin-room comparison suggests. Another might find the coach schedule unsuitable and return to Blossom's Busta and rail geometry. Gracery versus HOTEL GROOVE is the closer comparison after the airport coach becomes the main requirement.
Laundry can matter more than one square metre
Blossom identifies self-service laundry on the sixth, tenth and fourteenth floors and states that it is available twenty-four hours. Gracery has a guest-only coin laundry on the eighth floor, but its facilities page does not give the same twenty-four-hour operating promise and notes possible restrictions. For a single night this is unlikely to decide anything. By night four of a longer Japan journey, reliable access after a late return can reduce what the guests must pack.
Availability is a separate issue from opening hours: the posted 24-hour rule does not reserve a free machine. A guest who must wash before a very early check-out should leave a margin instead of expecting an empty machine at midnight. If an in-room washer is essential, neither hotel's shared-laundry description meets the requirement. A Tokyu Stay room with laundry would be a different shortlist. This is why the correct comparison changes when a functional need becomes clear.

Gracery's lounge photo shows tables, sofas and large windows on a common floor. It is useful for understanding an alternative place to sit outside a compact room, but it does not add square metres to a booked twin. A traveller working in the room, unpacking two cases or keeping children's gear needs to judge the room itself. Shared space can help for a short break without solving overnight storage.
Breakfast starts at the same hour, while the prices differ
Both hotel breakfast services currently begin at 06:30. Blossom's Akasaka Umaya buffet lists 06:30–10:30, with last entry at 10:00; its current adult price is ¥3,850 and child price ¥2,200 after the April 2026 revision. Gracery's Sizzler breakfast also runs 06:30–10:30 with a 10:00 last order, and lists ¥5,000 for adults, ¥2,500 for children aged seven to twelve and ¥1,500 for ages three to six. Compare a breakfast-inclusive package against room-only, since package pricing can differ from buying at the desk.
A 06:30 breakfast start offers little to someone boarding a 07:00 Busta bus. The guest still needs to eat, collect bags and reach the bus bay before departure. In that case a room-only rate and a simple earlier food plan may be more coherent. A late sightseeing start gives both breakfasts time to be used. The meaningful difference in this pairing is the posted price and menu fit, not a head start in breakfast opening. Early Tokyo morning planning helps test whether any hotel breakfast belongs in the schedule.
Seven scores across Shinjuku Station
| Dimension | Gracery Shinjuku | Blossom Shinjuku |
|---|---|---|
| Location | 8/10 — Kabukicho evenings end close to the room; South Exit and Busta departures cross the station district. | 10/10 — South Exit and Busta are near enough to matter for repeated rail and long-distance bus starts. |
| Room | 7/10 — The Standard Twin is 24 m² with two beds; the cheaper 18 m² Double changes the comparison. | 8/10 — The 25 m² Superior Twin adds a sofa and table; the 30 m² Deluxe Twin is another category. |
| Cleanliness | 8/10 — Upkeep is adequate but less consistent across the large property than Blossom's recent record. | 9/10 — Room-upkeep results are strong across a large recent stay sample. |
| Service | 9/10 — Front-desk support is a strength despite the hotel's high room count. | 9/10 — Staff performance is steady for onward journeys and luggage handling. |
| Facilities | 7/10 — An eighth-floor guest laundry exists, without Blossom's explicit 24-hour access promise. | 8/10 — Guest washers on three floors have a stated 24-hour operating window. |
| Food | 8/10 — Sizzler opens at 06:30, but its posted adult buffet price is higher. | 8/10 — Akasaka Umaya breakfast starts at 06:30 and costs less than Gracery's posted adult buffet. |
| Value | 7/10 — The rate pays back mainly when several nights finish on the Kabukicho side. | 8/10 — South-side departures and a practical twin give a longer stay repeat benefits. |
JapanLayer overall scores for three nights with a Shinjuku rail or bus departure: Gracery 7.7/10 and JR Kyushu Hotel Blossom Shinjuku 8.6/10. Blossom's South Exit and Busta position, 25 m² Superior Twin and round-the-clock laundry suit early onward travel. A stay centred on late Kabukicho evenings can justify Gracery's different last walk, especially when the room is a true twin rather than its smaller Double.
What a three-night stay does to the result
Take a hypothetical three-night stay for two adults with two large cases. If the plan has one Kawaguchiko bus, one ordinary city day and no fixed Kabukicho nights, Blossom has a coherent starting case: the 25 m² Superior Twin, South Exit position and stated all-hours laundry can each be used. This is a conditional example, not evidence that its price or service is always better. If the same travellers dine in Kabukicho on two evenings and use Seibu-Shinjuku, Gracery's location becomes more valuable, especially if its 24 m² twin is cheaper on the same dates.
Now change the trip to one night followed by a morning departure from Busta. There is too little time to benefit much from either hotel's shared laundry or modest twin-room area difference. Blossom's final terminal walk may carry the decision. Change it again to five nights with a much higher Blossom rate, and the total cost of that convenience must be compared with the repeated evening return to Gracery. This is why the decision should be revisited at the actual length, not frozen from a one-night or five-night example.

These are qualitative decision dimensions, not invented guest-service scores. The last step is to compare the same stay dates, guest ages, named twin category, breakfast inclusion, taxes and cancellation deadline. A cheaper Standard Double is a different product from the two twin rooms above. A 30 or 32 m² upgrade is also a different price decision. Compare Gracery's named rooms and compare Blossom's Superior Twin only after identifying which station-side journey repeats.
