Mark the days when a rental car will actually move you before filtering Fukuoka hotels for parking. A four-night trip with one Itoshima outing is mostly a city stay; a car collected at the airport and kept through departure would spend much of it in a garage. A three-day coastal or regional run is different. In that case, vehicle size, garage hours and whether the car can leave before dawn may matter more than a room's distance from the subway.
Hakata and Tenjin remain useful city bases when the car is gone. Choose the base for the car-free days first if those dominate the trip. Then set a return date for the rental and ask whether one hotel can handle both phases. A Nagasaki rail day trip, for instance, should not dictate a parking-oriented Fukuoka hotel. For a larger party, bed and laundry needs also deserve a place in the base decision.

| Car use during the stay | Hotel to compare | Constraint that could rule it out |
|---|---|---|
| Two or three consecutive road days while sleeping centrally | Hotel JAL City Fukuoka Tenjin | First-come mechanical parking; car size limits and normally no 00:00–06:00 access |
| One final road night, then rail and city days | Miyako Hotel Hakata | Its 36-space garage operates 07:00–23:00; a 05:30 exit needs another plan |
| Coastal stay where the car serves Uminonakamichi or Shikanoshima | THE LUIGANS Spa & Resort | Distance from central Tenjin evenings makes repeated city returns inefficient |
| One road day amid Tenjin shopping and dining | Solaria or another well-placed central Tenjin hotel | Do not let one rental day dictate three or four car-free nights |
The Akasaka garage works for daytime driving, with hard limits
Hotel JAL City Fukuoka Tenjin lists 26 guest spaces in its mechanical garage: 18 standard pallets and eight EV-compatible pallets. The guest charge is ¥2,000 per night, counted from 15:00 to 11:00. Standard pallets take up to 5.3 m length, 2.05 m width and 2.0 m height; the EV pallets are slightly shorter and narrower, with the same height ceiling. Vehicle weight and unusual attachments can matter too. Do not treat the phrase “parking available” as proof that a tall MPV, large SUV or roof box will fit.
Spaces cannot be reserved in the ordinary way and availability is first-come. The hotel generally does not accept entries or exits from midnight to 06:00. This suits road days ending around dinner and a car parked during subway-based hours; it does not suit a 04:30 photography departure. Akasaka Station gives the hotel a useful rail alternative on the non-driving part of the stay. The JAL City location and room analysis is relevant if those car-free hours are substantial, and the late-arrival base comparison matters before deciding to collect a vehicle after a flight.

Miyako makes a clean handover point at Hakata
Miyako Hotel Hakata's on-site tower garage has 36 spaces and opens 07:00–23:00. It charges hotel guests ¥2,000 for 24 hours from entry and accepts a passenger car up to 5.3 m long, 1.96 m wide and 2.05 m high, subject to weight limits. It is first-come; a reserved hotel room is not a reserved garage pallet. The affiliated Rika parking centre about 30 m away opens 24 hours, but has its own tighter width, length and weight limits. It is a possible overflow or out-of-hours answer only if the actual rental fits those rules.
The stronger reason to use Miyako is the sequence of the trip. Drive to Itoshima, Karatsu or a wider Kyushu area, return to Fukuoka, then give back the car and spend the final nights beside Hakata rail and airport access. The hotel can serve the last road night and the first car-free morning. It should not be chosen solely to park a car for four days while the group uses subway and Shinkansen. A scheduled 05:30 garage exit conflicts with its 07:00 opening; confirm the affiliated lot before committing to that departure. The Miyako station-access comparison and Miyako versus Solaria address the hotel choice after the car returns.

THE LUIGANS is a coastal base, not a free-parking shortcut
THE LUIGANS lists roughly 100 flat parking spaces available around the clock. The normal public rate is ¥600 per use for up to 24 hours; overnight hotel guests park free. That straightforward arrangement suits a stay built around Uminonakamichi, Shikanoshima or the eastern coast. The hotel places its Island City expressway exit drive at roughly eight minutes. Flat parking and no tower height rule remove one of the common city-garage problems.
The property also says there are no ordinary convenience stores, drugstores or shops within a normal walk of its seaside-park location. This is manageable for a deliberate coastal night with the car and supplies planned. It is a poor exchange if guests intend to drive back to Tenjin for dinner, bars and shopping every evening. The LUIGANS coastal-night decision asks whether the room and location earn that distance. Itoshima day versus overnight is a separate coastal question; do not let the availability of free parking collapse the two into one route.

A single Itoshima day need not choose all four hotel nights
Solaria Nishitetsu Hotel Fukuoka and other central Tenjin properties can be the right choice for a trip dominated by shopping, dining and evening returns, even if one day needs a rental. Solaria lists affiliated parking options, but the key is not to leave a car there through all three non-driving days. Collect it on the road morning and return it that evening or after a genuinely useful second day. Solaria's Tenjin location should be judged by the hours actually spent in the city. The Fukuoka transit comparison may remove more daily friction than choosing a hotel for its garage.
At the other end of the trip, a car returning to the airport or a different branch can carry a one-way fee and fuel/inspection time. A city-to-coast-to-airport loop may be sensible, but it has to be priced as that route. Do not pay for an extra hotel move to solve one afternoon of parking. Split the stay when the mode changes for several days, such as a coastal overnight followed by a car-free Hakata block. For restaurant-led city days, the dinner-base comparison keeps non-driving needs visible, while the trip-shape comparison tests whether a different party would choose the same base.
The rental model and garage rules must be compared together
A group might choose an MPV for four adults, large cases and shopping. That decision can put the car above JAL City's 2.0 m or Miyako's 2.05 m height ceiling. A rental class name does not guarantee a particular model; substitutions can change length, width, height or weight, and a roof box changes the height immediately. Ask the rental company for the expected model and dimensions, then compare them with the relevant pallet. Keep an alternative lot whose entry height, overnight access and re-entry policy also fit.
First-come hotel parking may fill on weekends, event nights or late arrivals. Write down where the overflow lot is before the trip and whether the hotel recognizes its ticket. Miyako publishes a 24-hour affiliated lot but its maximum width is 1.85 m, narrower than the hotel's 1.96 m tower limit. This is not an automatic safe fallback for the SUV that failed to fit the tower. JAL City's 00:00–06:00 restriction also means a space can be present yet unusable for the planned dawn departure. Okinawa's car-day comparison and Sapporo's parking constraints show why the same car-day logic needs different local checks.
Keep the parking question tied to the actual rental reservation. A hotel may describe its tower by maximum height while the branch gives you only a vehicle class until pickup; a change within that class can matter for the pallet's width or weight. The decision point is therefore before the free-cancellation deadline for the room and rental, when you can still change the vehicle class, hotel or parking plan. Also check whether leaving and re-entering the garage starts a new charge; a multi-stop driving day is different from storing the car overnight.
Seven qualitative dimensions to compare on your dates
These are practical decision dimensions, not a numerical hotel rating. The published parking information supports some of them directly; room comfort or service consistency still requires the exact room and recent stay evidence.
↔ Scroll table left or right
| Dimension | Evidence to use for this Fukuoka choice |
|---|---|
| Location and transport | Count car days against Hakata rail, Akasaka subway or Tenjin evening trips. |
| Room fit | Compare actual booked room and luggage space; parking details alone cannot establish this. |
| Parking fit | Use the rental model's dimensions and the published pallet or flat-lot limits. |
| Access hours | Check JAL City midnight–06:00 restriction, Miyako 07:00–23:00 garage or LUIGANS 24-hour lot. |
| Daily convenience | Check whether shops and meals are walkable on days the car stays parked; LUIGANS is coastal. |
| Value for the full stay | Add paid rental days, overnight parking and any extra hotel transfer to the room quote. |
| Fallback and flexibility | Confirm first-come garage overflow and whether the alternate lot fits the car and return time. |
Choose the car return date, then match the hotel to the days on each side of it. JAL City is strongest for several daytime drives with subway use between them; Miyako suits the handover from road to rail; LUIGANS suits a deliberate coastal stay; and a central Tenjin hotel remains sensible when the car is needed for one isolated day. Before booking, confirm the car's dimensions, garage access hours, first-come policy and the date the rental ends. Compare Fukuoka rooms for the road and car-free nights only after that sequence is clear.
