Hotel New Grand Yokohama Christmas 2026: Dinner Stay, Advent Gift or Room Only?

The hotel's published 2026 Christmas and Advent stays include different meals and gifts. Compare those inclusions with a room-only Yokohama night before booking.

Hotel New Grand has already published two different Christmas-season stays for 2026. The Christmas Stay runs from 1 to 25 December and pairs a Tower Building room with cake and champagne; one version adds an in-room dinner. The Advent Stay begins earlier, on 20 November, and gives one advent calendar and a box of tea per room. These are different purchases, not interchangeable names for a festive room. The choice turns on whether you want a private dinner in the room, a gift to take home, or simply a hotel night facing Yokohama Bay.

A room-only booking is a third option. It may be the cleanest choice for guests who plan to eat elsewhere or spend most of their evening outside. The hotel's Christmas restaurant menus have their own dates and reservations, so buying a room without a named meal does not secure a holiday table. Conversely, buying a special stay because its headline sounds seasonal can add a cake, tea or dinner you will not use. Start with your intended evening and party size, then compare the exact inclusions for the same date. If you are unsure whether to sleep in Yokohama at all, the Yokohama versus Tokyo two-night guide addresses the larger base decision.

The packages divide at dinner, not just at price

The published Christmas Stay offers a breakfast-only version and a dinner-and-breakfast version. The dinner version serves a special meal in the guest room. That is a fundamentally different evening from eating in Le Normandie, Il Giardino or The Cafe, all of which advertise seasonal menus on their own calendars. A couple seeking a quiet night without a restaurant schedule may appreciate the privacy. A couple wanting the dining-room atmosphere should reserve the restaurant they actually want and decide independently whether to stay. Do not assume that a room-service meal is identical to a restaurant's Christmas course.

The 2026 page gives starting prices per person for two sharing a room: ¥29,100 with breakfast and ¥43,100 with dinner and breakfast, inclusive of stated tax and service charges. Those are published starting points, not quotes for every day or category. The difference of ¥14,000 per person at the listed floor is meaningful only when you compare the same date and eligible room. A more expensive room category, a sold-out date or different occupancy can change the gap. The included cake and champagne also have value only if your party wants them. If your ideal evening is a harbour walk and a casual meal, the Yokohama night-walk route can be a better use of time than arranging a set dinner inside the room.

Advent Stay has a different rhythm. Its advertised period runs from 20 November to 25 December, and the gift is one calendar and one tea selection per room. The hotel's page lists breakfast as part of the package. That makes it plausible for a two- or three-person group that wants a take-home keepsake, but one calendar is not one per guest. If the group has two children who each expect a gift, add that expectation to the decision before paying. The package does not replace a Christmas dinner reservation. It also does not guarantee a Christmas-decorated room: the specially described Christmas rooms belong to a very small number of named categories in the Christmas Stay offer.

Match the room name to the view you mean to buy

Hotel New Grand has a historic Main Building and a Tower Building. The 2026 Christmas Stay list is centred on Tower categories: Superior Floor Bay Front or Bay Side rooms, Grand Club rooms, Premier Suites and a handful of designated Christmas rooms. If you have seen images of the Main Building's older architecture, do not assume that the holiday package places you in a historic Main Building guest room. The three photographs above show the property's courtyard and buildings; they do not depict the bookable 2026 room interior. Read the exact room title on the reservation page.

The hotel's English room guide lists a Tower Superior Bay Front Hollywood Twin at 32 square metres and a Bay Front Corner Double at 34 square metres. The Main Building Grand Double is listed at 27 square metres, but that category is not the same as a Tower package room. A couple with two large suitcases might prefer the 32-square-metre twin and its two beds to a small double, even if the category name sounds less grand. Families must confirm the bed arrangement and permitted occupancy rather than infer it from the floor area. The room-size decision guide offers a useful comparison of what an extra few square metres actually changes during a multi-night Japan trip.

View labels also need care. Bay Front describes the harbour-facing side; Bay Side and Tower Side are different named outlooks. A named Grand Club room adds access to the self-service lounge for coffee and tea during the published 10:00–18:00 hours. That is useful for an afternoon arrival, less so for someone who checks in late, eats dinner and leaves early. The hotel's photos and holiday prose show Yokohama after dark, but a room label that does not promise a particular angle should not be read as a guarantee of a particular landmark. If the view is the purchase, select a room whose named view meets it and check the current category images before paying.

Seven scores for this Christmas-season decision

These editorial scores judge the property as a December occasion stay. Location is strong for Yamashita Park and Motomachi-Chukagai but less direct for a morning Shinkansen from Shin-Yokohama. Space depends on the booked building and room category. Comfort and Service draw on the published facilities and private verified-stay aggregates; they are not a claim that every festive package is good value. Value is lower because add-ons and room category can make two similarly named offers financially very different.

Value changes with the plan you will actually use. A guest who would otherwise buy a separate hotel night, cake, champagne and private dinner may make use of nearly every inclusion. Someone who would rather dine in Chinatown and spend the next morning travelling is paying for unneeded services. The score therefore does not endorse a particular price or date. It is a prompt to compare the full cost with a room-only rate and a separately reserved meal. The Tokyo split-stay article is relevant if this Yokohama night would interrupt a longer Tokyo booking, because two hotel changes can consume much of the relaxed morning the package promises.

Use the 2026 calendar, not a generic Christmas image

The hotel's holiday programme spreads over several date ranges. Le Normandie's Christmas lunch and dinner courses are advertised from 1 to 27 December. Il Giardino's holiday dinner also runs from 1 to 27 December, while The Cafe's Christmas course runs through 25 December. The Christmas Stay closes on 25 December, and Advent Stay has the same end date. A traveller arriving on 26 or 27 December could still find a seasonal restaurant course, but the named Christmas accommodation packages have ended. A 2022 courtyard photograph cannot establish what decorations, if any, will remain on a particular 2026 evening.

This matters if you are planning a week rather than one night. You might visit Yokohama for the meal on the 26th and stay in a different part of the city that better serves the next day's rail trip. Or you might choose an earlier date specifically for the room package. If a late December Shinkansen follows, remember that the announced all-reserved Nozomi period begins on 25 December and extends through 5 January. A reservation in Yokohama should be paired with a real train plan, especially if you must reach Shin-Yokohama rather than simply Yokohama Station. The Tokyo Station early-train comparison illustrates how much a departure-side hotel can simplify a fixed morning, even though its hotels are in another city.

Before paying, ask what is meant by “Christmas room.” The published 2026 list identifies one Superior Floor Bay Front Double Christmas Room per day and two Grand Club Twin Christmas Rooms per day. These are scarce named products, not a decoration guarantee for every booking made between 1 and 25 December. A standard Bay Front Twin in the Christmas Stay may still include the food and drink benefits, but the room itself is not automatically one of those limited Christmas Rooms. If décor is your main reason for the rate, choose the named Christmas Room and confirm the inclusions on the final booking screen.

How the location changes a Yokohama evening

The hotel sits across from Yamashita Park. Its access page gives Motomachi-Chukagai Station Exit 1 as about one minute away on foot by stairs and Exit 2 as about two minutes away with an elevator. That second route matters when arriving with luggage or a stroller. JR Ishikawacho is listed at about 13 minutes on foot, so it is a different arrival proposition. A stay here naturally centres the waterfront, Chinatown and Motomachi side of Yokohama. It does not put you inside Yokohama Station or at Shin-Yokohama's Shinkansen platforms.

In practical terms, a couple can arrive in the afternoon, check in, walk by the park and choose whether the evening is a private-room meal or a city restaurant. The night-walk guide outlines a harbour route that can be shortened if the weather is cold or rain arrives. Travellers who want a daytime attraction before dinner can consult the Cup Noodles Museum guide and return to the hotel rather than schedule everything around one reservation. For a family, the Anpanman museum guide helps decide whether the main afternoon activity is actually better served by another part of the city. If you prefer a waterfront transfer to another train change, the Yokohama Sea Bass decision explains when the harbour boat earns its fare.

If you are arriving from Haneda, the hotel's page describes a limousine bus serving the Yamashita Park area, but its times and fares can change; check the operator's current timetable and the stop serving your exact travel date. An afternoon flight is different from a late-night arrival with an immovable dinner reservation. The late Haneda arrival decision is a useful check before making the same evening carry flight, transport and a prepaid meal. If your trip includes Tokyo sightseeing on both sides of Yokohama, the two-night base comparison may show that sleeping in Tokyo and visiting Yokohama without luggage is simpler. If your dinner plans instead centre on Kannai, the Kannai area guide helps judge whether this waterfront address is still the right overnight base.

Make the comparison for the actual number of guests. The published Christmas Stay starting rates are for two people sharing, quoted per person. Advent Stay gives separate starting figures for one, two and three people, also per person, while the gift quantity is per room. Comparing the lowest three-person Advent rate with a two-person Christmas Stay rate would be misleading. Multiply by the party size, add anything you will buy separately, and look at the selected room and refund terms. Do not forget that a child can change both the room category and meal requirement. The family hotel guide is useful when sleeping layout matters more than the package theme.

Check the room's final confirmation as carefully as the package name. Breakfast may be bundled, but its location and hours should be confirmed for your date. A champagne inclusion needs a workable alternative if someone in the room does not drink alcohol; do not assume substitution without asking. The in-room dinner must be compatible with dietary needs and the time you expect to arrive. The hotel lists seasonal restaurant courses separately, so a room-only guest should confirm table availability before deciding that independent reservations will necessarily be cheaper or more flexible. Even a refundable room can be paired with a meal that has a different cancellation deadline.

Where the next day points

If you want a slow morning along the bay, a Hotel New Grand package can use its location well. Breakfast, a Yamashita Park walk and time in Motomachi justify sleeping on this side of Yokohama. If you plan a Kamakura day afterward, the Kamakura add-on plan helps decide whether to keep the Yokohama base or move closer to the next route. If you are continuing to Hakone, the Tokyo-to-Hakone guide and Hakone lodging-area comparison can prevent a scenic Yokohama night from producing a rushed transfer the following morning.

For a departure through Shin-Yokohama, allow time for the local train connection and the station's Shinkansen entrance. Hotel New Grand's one- or two-minute walk is to Motomachi-Chukagai, not to a bullet-train platform. If your priority is a very early train, choose the package only if the evening itself earns the transfer. The same principle applies to a morning airport departure: confirm the bus or rail route on the date you travel. The Haneda terminal-hotel comparison is a useful alternative when minimizing departure-day uncertainty is more important than a bayfront morning.

Choose Christmas Stay with dinner when a private meal, cake, champagne and the named Tower room are the night you intend to buy. Choose Advent Stay when the calendar and tea are meaningful to your party and dinner will be handled separately. Book room-only if your preferred meal or city walk lies outside the package. The historic building and harbour setting are consistent reasons to visit; the 2026 package details decide whether paying for this specific stay is sensible. Compare the final booking screen, not the starting price or a festive photograph from an earlier year.
